The second day begins with a half-day excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park, with the possibility of riding the historic End of the World Train, followed in the afternoon by a navigation along the Beagle Channel to admire sea lions, seabirds, and the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. The third day is left free for you to choose from a wide range of activities, including trekking to Laguna Esmeralda or Laguna Turquesa, sailing to penguin colonies, kayaking, or a full-day visit to Fagnano and Escondido Lakes. OUR RECOMMENDATION

If you are planning to visit Ushuaia, I truly recommend spending at least three nights here. When I visited, I felt that this amount of time gave me the perfect balance between exploring and relaxing. The visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park was one of my highlights, especially reaching Lapataia Bay and realizing I was standing at the very end of the Pan-American Highway. Sailing the Beagle Channel was another unforgettable moment — watching the sea lions basking on the rocks and passing by the famous Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse felt magical. On my free day, I chose to hike to Laguna Esmeralda, and the contrast of the turquoise water against the mountains is something I’ll never forget. Ushuaia is not just about nature, though; the atmosphere of the city, the warmth of the people, and the sense of being truly at the “End of the World” make it a very special place. That’s why I always suggest giving yourself enough time to enjoy it without rushing.

Well, check the penguin calendar first.

Penguin Season in Ushuaia:

Main Season: Penguins are present from October to April (spring and summer in the Southern Hemisphere). This is when Magellanic and Gentoo penguins come to Isla Martillo to nest and raise their chicks. During these months you can do either a walking tour on the island or a boat tour to see them.

Off-Season (May to September):

The Magellanic and Gentoo penguins migrate north once the cold, dark winter sets in. Tours to Isla Martillo do not operate because there are no large colonies to observe.

Well, check the following information:

Main snow season:

Runs from late June to early October

The peak is usually July and August, coinciding with Argentine winter school holidays. Snow can still be found in May/early June and sometimes in late October, but it’s less reliable.

Where you’ll find snow:

Cerro Castor – the southernmost ski resort in the world, about 26 km from Ushuaia. Open typically mid-June to early October depending on snowfall.

Valle de Tierra Mayor & Valle de Lobos – great for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and snowmobiles.

Martial Glacier – accessible from the city, often with snow early and late in the season.
