On this captivating journey, I first set out on a guided city tour of Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. I wandered through its streets, taking in the town’s storied maritime heritage and frontier architecture, nestled between the majestic Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. The highlight was visiting the Old Prison Museum (Museo del Presidio)—an atmospheric former penitentiary where I learned about early Patagonian life, political prisoners, and Antarctic exploration. The preserved cells and exhibitions provided a profound sense of Ushuaia’s past and its identity as the “End of the World.”
Next, the adventure continued with a serene ride on the famed “Train of the End of the World”, a vintage narrow-gauge railway that once carried inmates into the forests for logging. Today, it traverses jaw-dropping landscapes of lenga forest, rivers, and valleys, with a stop at the beautiful Macarena Waterfall.

DAY 1 - USHUAIA

We will start our first activity: Ushuaia City Tour & Prison Museum (Museo del Presidio):

Explore hiking trails that wind through pristine wilderness, where you may encounter guanacos, foxes, beavers, and various bird species. A highlight is Lapataia Bay, the southernmost point of the Pan-American Highway, offering panoramic views of mountains and coastline.
For a unique experience, consider a ride on the End of the World Train, a historic steam locomotive that journeys through the park’s picturesque terrain. Passengers are treated to scenic views while learning about the region’s history as a former penal colony.

Afternoon: Beagle Channel Navigation

What´s the best season to do this tour?
Well, all the year is a nice time for that. During during spring and summer you will find more lightday, so it´s ideal for outdoors activities. It´s, October to April period. But also during winter season if you´re looking for snow and winter activities. It´s June, July, August and even September as the winter season is long in Ushuaia
Can I add or delete days?
Yes aboslutely. You can add extra nights and enjoy different activities available like trekkings and any other activity in Ushuaia. And of course we can personalize and offer a 1-night program if it´s better for you. Just contact us.
Can I see penguins during my trip to Ushuaia?
Yes, but check the penguin calendar first.
Penguin Season in Ushuaia:
Main Season: Penguins are present from October to April (spring and summer in the Southern Hemisphere). This is when Magellanic and Gentoo penguins come to Isla Martillo to nest and raise their chicks. During these months you can do either a walking tour on the island or a boat tour to see them.
Off-Season (May to September):
The Magellanic and Gentoo penguins migrate north once the cold, dark winter sets in. Tours to Isla Martillo do not operate because there are no large colonies to observe.
When can I enjoy snow in Ushuaia?

Main snow season:
Runs from late June to early October
The peak is usually July and August, coinciding with Argentine winter school holidays. Snow can still be found in May/early June and sometimes in late October, but it’s less reliable.
Where you’ll find snow:
Cerro Castor – the southernmost ski resort in the world, about 26 km from Ushuaia. Open typically mid-June to early October depending on snowfall.
Valle de Tierra Mayor & Valle de Lobos – great for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and snowmobiles.
Martial Glacier – accessible from the city, often with snow early and late in the season.

Can I add internal flights to my trip?

Yes, the entrance to National Parks are included in your program. Anyway, check with your travel designer if you prefer to pay the entrance fee on the spot on your own. It´s also possible.
