OUR RECOMMENDATION

Enjoy outdoor activities in Ushuaia: Trekking in Tierra del Fuego National Park + Boat navigation to Gable Island and penguins + 4×4 ride to Fagnano and Escondido Lakes

First, I embarked on a rewarding trek through Tierra del Fuego National Park, immersing myself in the park’s pristine sub-Antarctic forests, mossy wetlands, and along crystal-clear lakeshores. The scenery felt otherworldly—dense forest, shimmering waterways, and the sharp beauty of the southern wilderness all around.

Next, I set off on a canoe journey to Gable Island, drifting across the Beagle Channel. Paddling on calm waters, I glided past small islands teeming with seabirds. Upon reaching Gable Island, I explored meadows and untouched woods—an absolute peaceful escape from the everyday.

Finally, the adventure reached its peak with a thrilling 4×4 ride into the heart of the island, driving through forests, crossing rivers, and navigating muddy trails. The rugged terrain led me to the breathtaking lakes Fagnano and Escondido. There, I savored a rustic lunch with a glass of Argentine Malbec in a cozy shelter deeply hidden in the forest, surrounded by serenity and raw natural splendor.

Why I’d Suggest This Tour to Anyone:

  • It offers a perfect blend of active exploration and immersive nature, combining hiking, paddling, and off-road excitement.

  • I felt like I truly ventured into the wild heart of Tierra del Fuego—the landscapes feel untouched and remote.

  • From forest trails to tranquil waterways and rugged mountain lakes, the variety of experiences is simply unbeatable.

If you’re planning a visit to Ushuaia and crave a deeply engaging, multi-faceted outdoor adventure, this program is an absolute must—I can’t recommend it enough!

DAY 1 - USHUAIA

Arrive to Ushuaia
Welcome to Ushuaia International Airport

Arrive at Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, famously known as the “End of the World.” Nestled between the Martial mountain range and the Beagle Channel, this enchanting destination serves as the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic Islands Province. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and dense forests, Ushuaia is a gateway to incredible natural beauty.

Today, we will enjoy a wonderful activity to visit Gable Island
The adventure begins with hotel pick-up in Ushuaia and a drive east along National Route 3 and Route J. Upon arrival at Estancia Harberton, you’ll visit the Marine Mammal Museum and tour the grounds of one of Tierra del Fuego’s earliest European settlements.

From there, board a motorized zodiac boat and sail toward Martillo Island, where you’ll observe penguins in their natural breeding habitat — a charming and unforgettable sight.

The journey continues to the majestic Gable Island, your main destination of the day. After disembarking, enjoy a delicious lunch paired with Patagonian red wine, soft drinks, and mineral water.

Once lunch and coffee are served, set out on a guided hike across this untouched island, where relics of the Yámana people and early settlers still remain. Surrounded by wind, birdsong, and endless scenery, you’ll feel like you’ve reached the edge of the world.

After roughly two hours of walking, return by boat to Puerto Harberton, where your bus will be waiting to take you back to Ushuaia.

DAY 2 - USHUAIA
