Tierra del Fuego is an excellent destination for cycling enthusiasts, particularly for those who enjoy Mountain Biking. The island’s geography — with its coastlines, deep valleys, and vast mountain range — offers routes of varying difficulty that can be enjoyed both in summer and winter, as long as weather conditions allow.
Near Ushuaia, there is a mountain bike route that goes through the forest of the Martial Glacier Natural Reserve, reaching the viewpoint at 515 meters above sea level. This tour lasts about 3 hours and is considered medium/high difficulty.
Another picturesque route is the trail to Estancia Túnel, which starts from the Playa Larga area, at Baliza Escarpados, and follows the coastline of the Beagle Channel until reaching the historic ranch. This route is done on e-bikes and takes approximately 5 hours in total.
Both the Martial circuit and the Estancia Túnel trail can also be done in winter with certified guides.
Outside the city, in the Valle Carbajal Viewpoint area, there is a mountain bike trail that leads to Beban Waterfall. This tour lasts about 4 hours, is of medium/high difficulty, and, due to the terrain, is only available in the summer season.
Finally, at the Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint, visitors can enjoy an ascent and descent on e-fat-bikes (electric mountain bikes), along the old gravel road that leads to the head of Lago Escondido. This area offers stunning natural scenery, with rugged mountains, waterfalls, and the Andes mountain range flanking National Route 3 on both sides. To join this activity, cyclists must be in good physical condition, as the mountainous terrain makes the ride demanding. Tours are available from September to April, depending on trail conditions.
