We depart from Ushuaia, heading north along National Route No. 3 (Pan-American Route) toward the northern part of Tierra del Fuego Island. As we ascend through the Fuegian Andes, unique in this area for stretching from west to east, we’ll pass vast peat bogs and scenic valleys, including Carbajal, Tierra Mayor, and Las Cotorras, before reaching the Garibaldi Pass, standing 450 meters above sea level. From this spectacular viewpoint, we’ll enjoy panoramic views of Escondido and Fagnano Lakes, perfect for memorable photos.
Our journey continues with a brief stop at the head of Fagnano Lake, where the untouched Patagonian landscape unfolds in all its glory. Take in the peace of this remarkable region before we begin our return to Ushuaia.
Before concluding the tour, we’ll stop to enjoy the renowned Asado de Cordero Fueguino, a must-try dish for visitors to Ushuaia and Patagonia. For those preferring other options, a menu featuring pasta or international dishes is available. To round off the experience, enjoy a glass of Argentinian Malbec wine and try Café Montañés, a regional coffee specialty.
This half-day excursion is one of the best available from Ushuaia, offering a deep dive into the heart of Tierra del Fuego. Comfortable clothing is recommended, as the weather can change quickly.
Winter Season Notice:
From May 1 to October 1, the tour is limited to Escondido Lake due to heavy snowfall that makes Fagnano Lake inaccessible. During this period, the area is ideal for winter activities like Nordic skiing in the Tierra Mayor and Carbajal Valleys. For winter sports, please check available options in Ushuaia.
